Kristine deGuzman has been in an open relationship for over three years now. It has survived a semester-long break while she studied abroad in Spain and long distance commutes between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Kristine admits that there have been rocky times stemming from the open nature of the relationship and that her relationship is not a standard all couples should follow. She believes, however, that the communication and openness about other partners has allowed her and her boyfriend to stay together across long distances and has also allowed them to experiment with the boundaries of their relationship.
