Men and women view their platonic friendships differently, according to a study from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire which surveyed over 400 people aged 18-52. A large number of men and women admitted feeling attracted to their friends. More men than women reported these feelings of attraction and they often believed their feelings were shared. Dr. Laura Berman acknowledges that men and women can be friends, but cautions against putting more effort and energy into a friendship than into one’s primary relationship. She says, “…it can be risky, so unless you keep yourself…absolutely platonic at all times, it can be a dangerous path.”
