Who cheats? Attachment theory says insecure spouses do

A study out of Florida State University has found that spouses who are insecure, clingy, and anxious about abandonment are most likely to cheat on their partners. This finding supports attachment theory – some people fear abandonment so deeply that they would rather be the person leaving the relationship than have to face their partner leaving them.
