As chief economist for the on-line real estate company Trulia, Jed Kolko researched neighborhoods across the U.S. to find which were the “gayest.” Although some of the usual suspects were identified; the Castro neighborhood in San Francisco, and West Hollywood in Los Angeles, several others were also noted as having a high number of same-sex households. An interesting finding was that top neighborhoods differed for men and women, and that they tended to cluster away from each other, with women in less expensive areas. Kolko offers helpful statistics, including the median price per square foot of each zip code area.
