Some readers of the Fifty Shades of Grey erotic trilogy, detailing the sexual relationship between a billionaire executive and a naive young woman, are attributing their pregnancies to the books. Sex therapist and author Ian Kerner says women who read the books “are more interested in sex and having sex with their partners and getting pregnant—whether they were planning to or not.” The books been very popular, and have sold over 20 million copies in the U.S. The trilogy by E.L. James may not be sparking an actual baby boom, but anecdotal website and blog testimonies show that something’s going on.
