Helping Sandy Hook

I live here in CT.  Newtown CT is my community.

My family is connected to Sandy Hook, my sister has two homes here on the Lake.  Our children grew up there  and spent many summer weekends playing with the neighborhood kids on the street, only a stones throw from the elementary school.

Until recently we lived in Bethel, the town next door.  And by the luck of the draw, all of our kids survived the tragedy that took the lives of 20 other innocent children and 6 adults.

Here the teachers, parents, and first responders are people I see every day.  The mood is heavy, and the holiday songs are bitter sweet.

Yet there is hope.  I see wreaths on the street signs, candles on the roads.  Photos of the victims and prayers for the town are in every store window and on every corner.  Hope is like the wind that blows here today from the west, it permeates everything; slow, but steady.

For all of you feeling hopeless and who want to do something, anything, to support the community here in Newtown, you can make a contribution to the United Way of Western Connecticut.  Our Governor assures us this is the best way to help. The United Way is collecting funds to help provide resources to the community throughout the coming weeks and months.
