If you’re experiencing your partner pulling away from you, it’s time to start focusing on yourself. Sound counterintuitive? Maybe, but therapist Dr. Bob Huizenga says the alternatives, which include trying to pull your partner back, can actually drive him or her away. He suggests concentrating instead on what you need from your partner; being self-centered, not selfish. Choosing to focus on your partner’s needs instead of your own is a form of manipulation, and Dr. Huizenga says this is no way to heal infidelity. It enables your partner to avoid confrontation and continues to destroy your trust in each other.
