My mother-in-law recently had her 93rd birthday.  We celebrated at my house with the extended family. I am lucky.  My mother-in-law is kind, connected and an all-around cool person.

As we go into the holiday season, chances are you’ll be dealing with a variety of extended family and inlaws.

When things get tense or difficult, remember to breathe…and then remember all the communication skills you’ve learned for interacting with your partner and apply them to all of your relationships.

Listen, empathize, respond with calmness, stand up for yourself without resorting to name calling.
