Columnist “Ask Amy” (Chicago Tribune) recently reassured a betrayed wife that with time and counseling she and her husband could recover from his online affair. Amy replies to “Wanting to Trust” that couples who recover from infidelity sometimes find greater strength in their relationship after weathering the storm of healing from infidelity. I would have added that it doesn’t matter the scale of infidelity committed by her husband, a betrayal of trust is still a betrayal – whether it’s over the internet or physically – so “Wanting” should be gentle with herself and not compare her feelings to other betrayed spouses.
