Do you remember the Scary Stories to Read in the Dark series by Alvin Schwartz from the 80’s and 90’s? They were the most banned books at the time. As children scrambled to find the books at libraries and stores nation wide, their parents and librarians worried about the ghastly illustrations and creepy stories told within.
A documentary is being created to celebrate Schwartz’s work as a contribution to gothic children’s literature and to discuss the censorship of children’s literature.
