It is an effective therapy in helping clients move out of reactivity and into more conscious and calm presence. IFS is an invaluable method to help individuals to change their destructive relationship patterns. This destructive cycle often presents itself between couples with sexual difficulties and dysfunctions. Toni Herbine-Blank has taken Internal Family Systems into a relationship model, Intimacy From the Inside Out (IFIO). This seminar will give an overview of IFS and IFIO, as well as an opportunity to learn some of the skills used to address sexual issues.

More families today are negotiating their commitments in contemporary creative ways, including open marriage, polyamory, group marriages, and a variety of intentional partnerships. These relationships include dating, attaching, complying with implicit rules, making explicit agreements, and creating endings that are either intentional or create trauma to both adults and children
      • As therapists, we need to understand these new ways of relating, the group living developments, the open sexuality, the blurred lines of orientation and all of the challenges this brings to a family.
      • Sex and Couples therapists need skills to remain open and aware of their own triggers as well, regardless of their personal or professional experience.
      • Meets Requirements for AASECT Core Knowledge Areas: Sex Ed: A, I, N, O; Sex Therapy: A, B, C, D, E, F

In order to measure successful treatment outcomes, we must establish a new a non-pathological view of therapy that explores all of the challenges couples and individuals face today.
