Sex & Religion: Mormons, Jews, Buddhists and Catholics – How Beliefs and Values Shape Erotic Behavior (3 CEUs), a three-hour teleclass with Dr. Tammy Nelson, Dr. Talli Rosenbaum & Kristin Hodson
Teleclass Overview: Religion has for centuries shaped our sexual values and behaviors, everything from masturbation to ejaculation to procreation. Find out how we are shaped by our beliefs and how as therapists we can help couples confront their pasts and find faith that works for a sexually healthy future.
Drugs, Substance Abuse, Medicine & Sexuality (3 CEUs), a 3-hour teleclass with Dr. Tammy Nelson
Teleclass Overview: Many drugs impact sexual function, including illegal, also called recreational drugs, and legal, prescription and over the counter drugs. Many of these substances affect sexual desire, arousal and function. Some function is psychosexual, some is physical, and some creates long term and temporary side effects. We will touch on how drug companies create ongoing addiction problems and how the war on drugs may have created our war on sex and the new “sex addiction” culture in psychotherapy and the popular culture. This course will cover assessment, treatment and effects of recreational and illicit drug abuse including street drugs and club drugs. We will discuss how these drugs both enhance sexual experiences and erotic sensation, but inhibit sexual function. We will also cover long term sexual recovery in abstinence and in sobriety.
Evaluation and Treatment of Female Sexual Function: Integrating Sexual Medicine in Sex Therapy (3 CEUs), a 3-hour teleclass with Dr. Tammy Nelson and Dr. Talli Rosenbaum
Teleclass Overview: The course will cover three important areas of multi-dimensional assessment of female sexual functioning including theory, medical and therapeutic interventions, and holistic treatment and collaboration. Using the diagnostic criteria in current edition of DSM (2014) and ethical sex therapy practices we will review cases, provide clinical observations and give feedback for cases submitted from participants.
