Is Technology Ruining Your Sex Life?

Technology is a major player in our daily lives – we work, play, and even sleep with our technology. Could our cultural fascination and dependence on technology be ruining our relationships? Could you turn off the phone to save your relationship?

My latest blog over on YourTango addresses the fact that couples who lead happier, sexier relationships don’t text.

Not surprisingly, these same couples have more sex, and better sex than most couples. And they work through their conflicts by talking openly about their feelings, and communicating honestly.

Couples who text less often have more direct, real, honest connection. Too much texting can disconnect you from your partner and make real time confrontation and communication more difficult.

If you’re interested in this topic and want to know more, come join me at the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium in Washington, DC March 20-23, 2014. I will be presenting a full day workshop on Monogamy in the Internet Age. This workshop will map out the impact of technology on couples’ struggles around what’s acceptable and what’s not, and how therapists can help clients heal from “virtual” betrayals that have real emotional repercussions.
