In The New Monogamy I encourage couples recovering from infidelity to have honest discussions of what defines infidelity. For some people, just fantasizing about another person is a harmful betrayal to the relationship. For others, kissing someone else is ok. I encourage all couples to explicitly negotiate the terms of each relationship – what actions or decisions would likely hurt you, and how can you both avoid hurting each other?
