Caitlyn Jenner’s debut: Being transgender is not a choice – Wearing a fake persona is

Caitlyn Jenner on the cover of Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair announced yesterday that they will be releasing a photo spread in their July issue of the new Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner. The gorgeous cover photo, seen here, property of Annie Leibovitz the photographer, best known for her photos of rock stars and artist types, shows Jenner in her new persona as Caitlyn.

As all of the Kardashian children have “K” names, one has to wonder if “Caitlyn” is a desire to be part of the clan. Yet the “C” in Caitlyn might indicate a separate wish, a wish to have a new and separate identity from the Kardashian’s and distinct from his history as a man who won a gold medal in the 1976 Olympics. He has done it all, and now she does it again.

In the transition from male to female, Caitlyn reveals in the upcoming July Vanity Fair article that winning the gold medal, “…was a good day, but the last couple of days were better… This shoot was about my life and who I am as a person. It’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium, it’s not about going down the street and everybody giving you ‘that a boy, Bruce,’ pat on the back, O.K. This is about your life.”

On March 15th of this year Caitlyn underwent a 10 hour facial feminization surgery. She had counseling from the Los Angeles Gender Center and she also had anxiety after the surgery. Anxiety is normal in cases where drastic reconstruction happens. Although Jenner has not had genital surgery, and has not revealed yet if she will, counseling by a sex therapist who is a gender reassignment expert will be necessary both before and after that kind of surgery, to support Caitlyn through the process.
